Some brands are destined for success when establishing themselves on Facebook by the very nature of their product. Victoria’s Secret, Oreo, Starbucks, Disney – all rather easy to make sexy, engaging … and therefore, popular.
That said, there are brands out there that are just not that sexy. In fact, some are the complete opposite of sexy. We’ve talked just as many businesses out of Facebook as we have in when we believe it isn’t a good fit. Contrary to popular belief, all agencies don’t assume Facebook is the answer for every business.
Yet, we recently stumbled on this little local surprise and felt we needed to share and give props.
The Royal Oak Burial Park, Crematorium & Mausoleum is a Facebook page for … a graveyard. Pure and simple. New to Facebook as of just a couple weeks ago, The Royal Oak Burial Park is doing a surprisingly great job at managing their Facebook page by posting photos, updates, and events. They’re even advertising!
Given the nature of the business, this page may have been dismissed and considered doomed for social media to some, but The Royal Oak Burial Park in a couple weeks already has over 100 fans who like the page and share their attachments with the burial grounds. In fact, the majority of the wall posts are from their fans.
Do you know of any other “un-sexy” businesses that are killing it on social media? We’d love to hear about them!
